Currumbin Creek Estuary to Elephant Rock & Return Location: On the coast Distance: 10-12K return Difficulty: Easy - Moderate Grade 2 Meet-up time 8.55am Start Time: 9.00am Carry your lunch in your back-pack: Meet-up: Bradshaw Drive Cost: $2 Your walk leader today is PLEASE CHECK ALL WALKS AT 7.30AM ON THE MORNING OF ALL WALKS TO SEE IF THEY HAVE BEEN CANCELLED OR AMENDED. Whilst the weather is not too hot and we have to retreat to the hills, this should make a pleasant change. Water is always a relaxing backdrop whilst meandering along this very easy and delightful walk. So here we will take a gentle amble along the shores building up our muscles for the summer months of mountainous tracks and rock hopping once again. The total walk is about 10-12k’s so should make an easy walk for those of us that have not been walking daily for whatever reason. We will follow the path through the Currumbin wetlands to the pacific motorway bridge where we will cross to the opposite side of Currumbin Creek via the footbridge. Then through Salt Oval and onto Beree Badalla Reserve on the boardwalk to the end at Tarrabora Reserve where we meet the sea. We return through the reserve to Thrower Drive bridge, follow the footpath crossing back to the opposite shore line following the path past Winders Park and Family Park, until we meet the surfers at Currumbin Beach. Once at Currumbin we will locate all of the Sculptures where hopefully we would already as a group be in possession of the SWELL booklet describing all of what the sculptures are about, very necessary I'm afraid, where one of our more linguistic members will read these descriptions to us all. It was a great insight last year so with luck, this year will be even better. Meet at Bradshaw Drive where there is a park and street parking, so convenient for us to park all of our cars in. The walk will be about 10-12 k's estimated, which is mainly on good level man made paths, only a few areas of grass paths on this walk, so sneakers will do just fine today.
