Why it's worth checking out

John Laws Park, also known as Burleigh Hill, is a picturesque coastal park in Burleigh Heads with broad views along the beach and coastline towards Surfers Paradise. The hilltop overlooks the surf break, making it a popular place to watch the water, take in the outlook or settle under the trees with a picnic.

The park has sheltered picnic areas, picnic tables, seating, barbecue facilities, drinking fountains, a water refill station and outdoor showers along the coastal pathway. Families can use the playground, which includes swings, climbing equipment, a slide, a see-saw and a four-seat spinner. A viewing deck with a telescope adds another vantage point, although the deck is reserved for general public viewing and cannot be used for wedding ceremonies.

There is plenty to do beyond the park itself. John Laws Park is the starting point for the Burleigh National Park walk, with ocean-view and rainforest return circuits of 2.3 and 2.4 kilometres. Patrolled Burleigh Beach is nearby, and the park is also used for weddings, social gatherings and community events. Dogs are prohibited in the park but may use the shared path. With accessible toilet facilities, Changing Places toilets nearby, parking along Goodwin Terrace and a small onsite car park, it suits families, walkers, picnickers, visitors seeking coastal views and people wanting a relaxed outdoor setting on the Gold Coast.

Spot Score

53

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.9 from 21 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
