MUSCLE CAR MUSEUM

Muscle Car Museum in Bundall, just minutes from Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, showcases a privately owned collection devoted entirely to Australian muscle cars. The open warehouse display features more than 20 vehicles, with examples connected to the motoring culture of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. This is not a general classic-car collection: the museum specifically focuses on Australian-built icons rather than American or vintage cars.

Standout vehicles include a Mad Max Interceptor replica based on a Ford XB Coupe, a 1968 Holden Monaro 327, the Bathurst-associated Ford Falcon XY GT, Holden Torana SLR5000 and Chrysler Valiant Charger. The collection also includes Ford hardtops, an FJ Holden limousine, Bathurst specials and model cars. Two-wheeled displays such as the Honda CB750 Four and Kawasaki Z1 900 add some variety beyond the main car collection.

There is more to the visit than viewing the vehicles. Classic pinball machines are available for free play with admission, while a large Scalextric slot-car track offers a hands-on racing challenge. The museum describes the experience as an indoor attraction suitable for families, couples and tourists, making it a practical option in wet weather as well as a destination for people with a strong interest in Australian motoring. The typical visit is listed as 60 to 90 minutes, although visitor feedback on the site includes a family spending two hours there.

The museum was created as a place to preserve Australian automotive heritage and connect different generations with cars associated with their parents, grandparents and earlier family memories. That gives the space a distinctly nostalgic purpose, while the well-kept collection and arcade elements make it accessible to visitors who may not consider themselves dedicated car enthusiasts. Couples can browse the displays together, families can combine the cars with the games, and car clubs can use the venue for meets, with parking for up to 30 cars. Admission options include adult, couple and family passes, and the museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 3pm, closing on Mondays.
