Why it's worth checking out

Phil Hill Environmental Park offers a short nature walk in a quieter corner of the Gold Coast, with a 330-metre boardwalk extending above the water and through mangroves towards the Coomera River. It is a straightforward way to experience a wetland environment without committing to a long hike.

The mangroves are an important feeding, spawning and nursery habitat for aquatic animals including crabs, fish and prawns. At the end of the boardwalk, the setting opens out to trees, shrubs and sand, with a tall birds’ nest metal structure adding an unusual landmark to the walk. The route is approximately 1.5 metres wide.

The park suits solo walkers, families and anyone looking for a brief outdoor stop in Hope Island. Access is via Jabiru Island Park, where visitors will find car parking, toilets, picnic tables and BBQ facilities. Disabled parking and toilets are also available there. Dogs must be walked on a leash, and are prohibited in children’s playground areas. The park is rated 4.5 out of 5 on Google from 263 reviews.
