Why it's worth checking out
Pizzey Park Skate Park is part of a major sport and recreation precinct in Miami, on the Gold Coast, with enough variety to make it more than a quick stop for a skate. The skate park has more than 4,800 square metres of skateable surface, combining park and street-style elements for skateboards, bikes, scooters and skates. Its street-style extension was designed to Olympic standards and can accommodate major competitions and professional training, giving experienced riders plenty of scope to test their skills.
Alongside the skate park is Pizzey Park’s 2,100-square-metre asphalt pump track, described by the City of Gold Coast as the first on the Gold Coast and the largest in Australia. It includes rollers, berms, tabletops and wall rides, and is designed for different experience levels, from beginners to expert riders. Bikes, scooters, skateboards and inline skates can all use the track, with riders building momentum through the rises and falls rather than simply following a flat course.
The wider park provides open space for walking, running and cycling, as well as four children’s playgrounds and lawn areas for informal activities such as touch football and frisbee. There are also picnic tables, picnic shelters, barbecues, toilets, a walking track and a disability toilet listed among the precinct’s features. The Miami Aquatic Centre is located within Pizzey Park, while the broader precinct is home to a range of sporting clubs and facilities.
It suits solo riders, families and groups looking for an active outdoor outing, with options for different ages and skill levels. Families can combine the skate facilities with playground time and open lawn space, while dog owners can use the designated off-leash exercise area and fenced agility course, provided dogs remain under effective control. Dogs must be on leash outside signed off-leash areas and are prohibited from children’s playgrounds, so checking the park’s dog-area information is important before visiting.
