Why it's worth checking out

Roughton Park is a beachfront park in Coolangatta, set beside Kirra Beach and its well-known surf break. The Oceanway runs through the parkland along the beach, making it a practical spot for a coastal walk, a sea-breeze break or a relaxed picnic with the shoreline close by.

Families have access to a partly shaded playground with a spiderweb climbing net, spinners, rockers and a basket swing. The park also includes picnic tables, shelters, barbecues, drinking fountains, showers, toilets and a fitness station, so it suits everything from an informal gathering to a solo workout or an easy afternoon outdoors. Regular organised fitness activities are also held at the park.

The patrolled swimming area is in front of Kirra Surf Life Saving Club, with patrols running daily from November to April between 8am and 5pm. Roughton Park has an accessible toilet, several accessible parking bays and parking on Musgrave Street and Marine Parade. Dogs must be kept on a leash unless signage states otherwise, and they are not permitted in children’s playground areas. With its beach access, playground and picnic facilities, the park is well suited to families, walkers, fitness groups and larger social gatherings.

Spot Score

58

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.4 from 173 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
