Eddie Kornhauser Recreational Reserve is a spacious park in Coolangatta, Gold Coast, designed for straightforward outdoor recreation. Large open areas give locals and visitors room to walk, cycle, play and unwind, while a network of level hard-surface paths makes the reserve suitable for a range of fitness levels. The setting includes waterways and shaded picnic areas, so it is an easy option for a relaxed outing rather than a demanding bushwalk.
Families have several facilities to choose from, including a small playground, a half basketball court and picnic shelters on the Casuarina Drive side of the park. Public toilets, including accessible facilities, are located near the playground. The park’s connecting pathways provide access to the facilities and picnic area, making it more practical for visitors who need step-free movement through the reserve. Bring a rug for a shady picnic, or a football for an informal game with the kids.
The northern section includes a spacious designated dog exercise area with agility equipment, giving dog owners room to exercise their pets off leash when they remain under effective control. Dogs must be on leash elsewhere unless they are in a signed off-leash area, and they are not permitted in children’s playground areas. The equestrian area is also dog prohibited, so visitors should check the park’s signage and maps before letting a dog run free.
There is a designated dressage arena in the south-western part of the reserve, accessible from Tallebudgera Connection Road opposite Gray Street, but horse riding is prohibited within the reserve itself. Trail and terrain maps are available for planning a visit. With walking and cycling paths, open lawns, picnic shelters, a playground, basketball facilities and a separate dog exercise area, the reserve suits families, casual walkers, cyclists, dog owners and anyone looking for an accessible place to spend time outdoors.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.5 from 179 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
